Ikirun will be Back on Track – Rep. Adetunji Assures NIPU

as NIPU visits lawmaker, tasks Rep. member to facilitate the creation of Federal College of Agriculture Ikirun

Rep. Soji Adetunji is the first Ikirun born MHR to identify with us-Chairman, NIPU, Abuja branch

 

Lawmaker representing Odo-Otin/Ifelodun/Boripe Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep. Soji Adetunji has assured indigenes and residents that Ikirun will surmount its current security challenges and normalcy will return.

Rep. Soji Adetunji made this known when the National Ikirun Progressive Union, Abuja branch paid him a courtesy call led by it’s chairman Alhaji Ahmed Omowale. He acknowledged that Ikirun is being plagued with numerous challenges that have impeded the growth of the town. The lawmaker, however, assured NIPU that he would do his best to facilitate economic growth, improved security, healthcare, job creation, and improved infrastructure.

He then reiterated his commitment to further work with necessary stakeholders, including the security agencies and the local vigilante, to ensure that the incessant criminal activities in the town are battled to a standstill. Rep. Adetunji narrated to NIPU how he installed solar-powered streetlights in Ifelodun and Boripe Local government areas as a way to enhance the security situation of his constituency.

Earlier in his opening remarks, the Chairman, NIPU Abuja branch , Alhaji Ahmed Omowale explained that the motive of the visit was to congratulate the lawmaker for his victory during the last 2023 National Assembly election.

“We have come to congratulate you on your victory at the last general election, our visit today is unique, because Since 1999, when we ushered in this democratic disposition, you are the first House of Rep. member from Ikirun, our root, who has actually identified with us and allowed opportunity for interaction with the National Ikirun Progressive Union.

“Dear MHR, you will agree with me that Ikirun, the headquarters of Ifelodun Local government, the then headquarters of Osun North East which covers up to the present Igbomina, Ila and some part of Ijesha land, unfortunately has not benefitted so much from the FG largesse unlike it’s contemporaries like Ogbomoso, Ilesa and others.

“Our respected Honourable Member, the Federal Government is undoubtedly a reservoir of opportunities. We seek your proactive strength at earning our root the best from this endless Largesse of the federal Government,” he stated.

NIPU Chairman, Abuja branch, however charged the lawmaker to facilitate the creation of Federal College of Agriculture in Ikirun as well as timely completion of the abandoned project of the Nigeria Police Force, along Osogbo road, Ikirun, Osun state.

In an interactive session, members of the National Ikirun Progressive Union, Abuja branch, similarly urged Rep. Soji Adetunji to facilitate employment opportunities to his federal constituency and as well promote skill acquisition and ICT training among the constituents.

Meanwhile, NIPU Abuja Branch commended Rep. Adetunji for securing UTME forms for candidates in IBO Federal constituency while also calling for synergy with the lawmaker to move Ikirun forward and regain its lost glory among towns to be reckoned with in Osun state and its environs.

In his response to issues further raised by NIPU members, Rep. Soji Adetunji made it known that a bill has been raised on the floor of the house on the establishment of Federal school of Agriculture in Ikirun, explaining that the bill was gazetted in March this year and has passed first reading.

On the issue of empowerment, he assured the team that a place has been acquired to serve as IT Skill acquisition center, located at opposite African Church, Eko Ende road in Ikirun and promising to begin operation in soonest.
Reacting to the unavailability of commercial banks in Ikirun, the lawmaker explained that all his efforts and other stakeholders would materialize sooner than expected.

Speaking on employment opportunities, he explained that through his intervention, an indigene of Ikirun recently secured employment with the federal medical center and posted to Ondo state, while also promising to unveil names of indigenes already submitted for employment slot with Fire service and police service commission once they receive their letters of employment.
The seasoned banker, who is also a member of the Banking Regulations Committee, equally explained to the team the employment opportunities available in financial institutions to interested employment seekers in his constituents.

Accompanying the Chairman were Secretary, Alhaji Remi Adebisi and other members, which included Magistrate Abdulateef Ajala, Alhaji Isiaka Oyedele, Mr. Timothy Oyetunji, Alhaja Aderonke Ajileye, Alhaja Sikifat Olopade, Prince Abubakar O. Kazeem, Mr. Afeez Megida and Madam Adkat Adeniran Titilayo.

NIPU’s courtesy call therefore underscores the collaborative efforts between the Ikirun community and its House of Representatives member in advocating for positive change and sustainable development of the noble town, Ikirun.
