Why I’m Not Vocal About Nigeria’s Politics – Music Star Wizkid Reveals

Nigerian music superstar Ayodeji Balogun popularly known as Wizkid has revealed why he seldom makes political comments in his songs and during interviews.

According to the More Love Less Ego crooner, the Nigerian masses don’t care about politics in their country, saying they only care about how to make ends meet.

Wizkid made the assertion in a recent interview with Evening Standard UK.

The singer maintained that doesn’t like to speak about politicians in his country because the people on the streets only care about themselves and how to feed every other thing don’t matter to them.

Wizkid also spoke about his role as a leader of the new generation of Nigerian musicians who are making the Afrobeats genre known on the global stage.

He said he wouldn’t judge “previous generations”, stressing that his goal is “to steer the new generation forward.”

Wizkid said he wished that the new crop of Afrobeats artists would make global exploits and be united.
