The supremacy battle on who is world football’s Greatest Of All Time (GOAT) between superstars, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi has taken a new turn as the Portuguese sets a new record.
Cristiano Ronaldo is now the fifth top goalscorer in football history, the Juventus frontman overtook Gerd Muller to reach the landmark – With 736 goals in 1028 games.
Ronaldo has since set his eyes on Puscas and Pele’s goal record he as leapfrogged Gerd Muller on the top goalscorers in the history of world football list, beating the Germany legend to fifth position after his goal recent impressive goal scoring runs.
Ronaldo’s undoubtable football talents gained another talking points around the world after he singlehandedly inspired Juventus to a comfortable yet narrow 2-1 victory over Parma at the Allianz Stadium last weekend.
The Portuguese scored the two goals to extend Juve’s lead to points in Serie A, raising his tally in the League to 16 while also becoming the only player in the top five European leagues to score at least 15 goals in each of the last 14 football seasons.
The new records mean the former Real Madrid man has now reached another high in his hugely successful football career with plenty trophies to boast for it. At 34, Cristiano Ronaldo with a goal per game ratio of 0.72 has now scored staggering 736 goals in 1028 games at the top level.
Hungarian icon Ferenc Puskas has 747 goals behind Selecao legend Pele who has 767. It seems Ronaldo may overtake both legends should his goal-scoring form continue this season.
Romario is the second highest goalscorer in history with 772, while Czech-Austrian legend Josef Bican is the most prolific goal-scorer with 805 goals.
