PSG target Vinicius as revenge for Real Madrid’s interest in Kylian Mbappe

Nasser Al-Khelaifi, president of Paris Saint-Germain, and his team are aware of Real Madrid’s pursuit of Kylian Mbappe last year. Because of this, the French club is fixated on acquiring Vinicius and will make the final move if Real Madrid acquire Kylian Mbappe.

Kylian Mbappe was kept at Paris Saint-Germain over the offseason. The Parisians gave him an offer he couldn’t refuse, and he renewed his contract with the club until 2025. Because of this, he rejected an offer to join Real Madrid, who had been waiting for him with open arms.

Nasser Al-Khelaifi, president of PSG, was irritated that they discussed his player while he was still under contract with the club. He had one season left on his contract; otherwise would have been free as of January 1, 2023. Thus Madrid were interested in buying him for 200 million euros.

The president from Qatar hasn’t forgotten what happened, and he’ll get even if Mbappe plays for Real Madrid. To take Vinicius was their intended action.

Leonardo, former sports director at PSG, was a big fan of the Brazilian and even broached the subject of a possible trade combining PSG and Real Madrid to acquire his services. The former Flamengo player, though, opted to remain in Madrid.

Vinicius’ current deal is set to end in June 2024, and while negotiations for a new one are progressing smoothly, they may encounter roadblocks if PSG are waiting in the wings. His release clause is a cool EUR 1 billion, but the French team always manages to pull off a market upset.

They achieved this in the summer of 2017 when they paid a then-record 222 million euros to recruit Neymar. The cost of acquiring Vinicius is enormous, but Paris Saint-Germain know how to deal a devastating blow to Real Madrid.
