FA Cup: McTominay Gifts Man United Slim Win Against West Ham

Scott McTominay sends Manchester United through to the quarter-final of the FA Cup with an extra-time goal to the dismay of a dogged West Ham side on Tuesday night.

McTominay struck accurately from a Marcus Rashford‘s setup seven minutes into the additional 30 after West Ham United had managed to frustrate their host for the entire opening 90.

United almost found a breakthrough in the first half but Victor Lindelof’s header was kept out by a superb one-handed Lukasz Fabianski save shortly before the half-hour.

The visitors put in a much-improved performance after half-time although United still enjoyed the best chance, with Marcus Rashford denied by another point-blank Fabianski stop, before Craig Dawson almost won the tie with a glancing header from a corner late on – and in extra-time, McTominay’s finish would make all the difference.
