Create New Emirate For Sanusi In Kaduna – Kano APC To El-Rufai
The Kano State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has asked Nasir El-Rufai, governor of Kaduna State, to create a new emirate for deposed Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, in Kaduna.
El-Rufai last week appointed Sanusi as the chancellor of the Kaduna State University, 24 hours after he was dethroned by the Kano State Executive Council.
El-Rufai initially hours after the dethronement, had appointed him as vice chairman of the board of the state investment promotion agency (KADIP).
The governor then visited Sanusi in Nasarawa, where he was banished to, and left the state with him, after a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, ruled that the exile-styled isolation imposed on him by the Kano government, was an infringement on his freedom of movement and association.
In a statement signed by the state party deputy chairman, Shehu Maigari, the party asked the governor to appoint the deposed emir as the traditional ruler of a new emirate.
Maigari said El-Rufai treated Sanusi like a hero, despite openly criticising President Muhammadu Buhari, whom he referred to as the governor’s mentor.
He also said the former emir worked against the success of the APC, a party El-Rufai belongs, in the last gubernatorial election in Kano.
“Your Excellency, Governor Nasir el-Rufai, this is somebody who worked against the success of APC, your dear party, coming out openly to criticise your mentor (Mr. President) with no concrete reasons or justifications but yet you have decided to treat him like a hero.
“Sir, APC Kano Chapter is strongly advising you to create additional emirate in your state like New Kaduna Emirate Council, probably to start from Rigachikun to Kasuwar Magani and install your hero there, so that he can work effectively for his dear party (PDP) over there, instead of giving him those ceremonial positions,” he said.
