Zookeeper Rejected £10,000 To Allow Me Fight ‘Bullying’ Gorilla – Mike Tyson
Mike Tyson, former world heavyweight boxing champion, has revealed that a zookeeper i New York rejected £10,000 he offered to allow him fight a silverback bullying gorilla in a cage in the late 80s.
Tyson forged a long career in boxing, becoming a legend in the process with his lightning speed and heavy punches.
“I paid a worker at New York’s zoo to re-open it just for me and Robin.
“When we got to the gorilla cage there was one big silverback gorilla there just bullying all the other gorillas.
“They were so powerful but their eyes were like an innocent infant.
“I offered the attendant $10,000 to open the cage and let me smash that silverback’s snotbox! He declined,” Tyson said.
The 53-year-old holds the record as the youngest boxer to win a heavyweight title, after stopping Trevor Berbick in the second round at the age of 20 years, four months and 22 days.
However, despite the incident, he is said to be a huge animal fan, owning an array of pets over his life-time, including exotic birds and a tiger.
