It is not a good time for popular Afrojazz singer, Yinka Davies, as it has emerged that she lost her first child and son, Jeremiah Oluwafunsho Oluwadayo Bankolelast Friday.
Jeremiah who was 27-year-old, died after a long battle with Autoimmune blood tissue disorder. He had been in and out of the hospital in the last 10 months and sadly, lost the battle to the disease last week.
In an Instagram post, the grieving mom shared the sad news of his demise and thanked people who had been there for him during his lifetime up until his illness and death.
Sharing a photo of her late son, she wrote:
For those who held you in their hearts, Those you waved at on your strolls, For those who cried the tears they couldn’t hold back, Cos you are no more here. For those who washed you when you were weak, Those who were scared to see you ill, For those who thought you madly stubborn cos you, Wouldn’t take another pill. I salute them all, who shared you with me, Paying for your bills, Calling on others to give their dimes, I appreciate the toils and tears and All the memories you left for Them. Leaving only me.
Speaking with ThePunch in an interview, she said since the ailment was detected in June 2020 Jeremiah has undergone several series of Scans( CT, MRI, etc) and at different times was admitted in a popular Lagos hospital.
Davies expressed;
I lost my firstborn, my son. I have two boys but I lost my firstborn. He was 27 when he died, he would have been 28 years old on the 21st of February.
With an emotion-laden voice, she revealed the cause of her son’s death, saying he was in and out of the hospital for ten days.
The singer added;
For the family, it is still too much to process his death. We are all grieving in our own way because he is everybody’s child. My sisters took care of him. During his last days, he refused to be admitted because he gets bored easily. He was a very active child and keeping him in one place would have been so tiresome. Let us just thank God for his life.
