Stop Being Oblivious By Asking For Supreme Court Review – Kano Govt Tells Kwankwaso

The Kano State government has asked Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, a former governor of the state, not to bother approaching the Supreme Court for a review of the state’s governorship case, stating that such action would portray him as an oblivious person.
Muhammad Garba, Kano Commissioner for Information said this in a statement issued in reaction to Kwankwaso’s appeal to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over the state’s governorship case.
The former governor had on Wednesday led some members of the PDP from the state to the national secretariat of the party, asking the leadership to support the call for a review of Kano governorship election case.
The apex court had on January 20, dismissed the appeal filed by Abba Kabir Yusuf, the PDP candidate, who claimed the election of Abdullahi Ganduje, the state governor, was marred by irregularities.
But the Kano State government said Kwankwaso is “ignorant of judicial procedure” for asking the apex court to review its verdict.
According to its statement, the PDP suffered a ”glaring defeat” at the apex court.
“Kwankwaso’s call is a clear testimony of his total obliviousness on the jurisdictional procedures that affirmed Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as elected governor.
‘’What the Supreme Court ruled was the affirmation of the judgement of the tribunal and Court of Appeal. That is to say, the PDP failed woefully to prove their case and that is the substance of the case. Therefore, there is no basis what so ever for review of Kano case,’’ the statement read.
The state government said Kwankwaso is driven by the recent applications for the review of the supreme court judgments on Imo and Bayelsa governorship cases, which he says, cannot be compared with that of Kano.
It said it remained confident that the judiciary would not overturn its decision.
