SFA Foundation, RES to Hold Policy Roundtable on Artificial Intelligence in Health
In a bid to develop the framework for a systematic integration of health governance, Science for Africa Foundation (SFA) and Research Enterprise Systems (RES) have declared their readiness to hold Policy Roundtable on Artificial Intelligence in Health.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Executive Director, Research Enterprise Systems, Professor Fatai Aremu.
According to the statement, the event is scheduled to hold in Abuja, Nigeria on Tuesday, 19 March, 2024, where policy experts, and relevant stakeholders would engage in discussions on the findings of Science for Africa Foundation report and initiatives as a way to foster capacity-building and knowledge-sharing in Nigeria’s AI ecosystem and its alignment with continental agendas.
The statement reads, “This roundtable is important and timely coming at a time that the global landscape of AI applications expands its potentials to revolutionize healthcare. Hence, there is the need for a robust interrogation of the phenomenon with a view to developing the framework for a systematic integration of health governance.
“The rapid surge in the adoption of AI in healthcare delivery especially in low- and middle-income countries like Nigeria deserves sustained intellectual engagement.
“It is in light of this that the policy roundtable aims to serve as a vital platform for informing policy development, integrating AI initiatives into national frameworks, and fostering capacity-building in Nigeria’s ecosystem will focus on the significance of AI, its expansion and potential to revolutionize healthcare delivery in Nigeria.”
Meanwhile, Science for Africa Foundation is a Kenya based pan-African, non-profit and public charity organisation that supports, strengthens, and promotes science and innovation in Africa, while Research Enterprise Systems is a Nigeria based independent knowledge production organization.
