S/Kaduna Killings: I’m Only Gov’s Wife, Not Part Of Government – Hadiza El-Rufai
Hadiza El-Rufai, wife of Kaduna State governor, has reacted to criticisms directed at her on Twitter, for ignoring the killings in Kajuru, southern part of the state.
Some Nigerians on the platform had attacked her on Thursday, for celebrating 80,000 followers and ignoring the recent killing in the Christian-dominated community in the state.
At least eight persons were said to have been killed in another suspected Fulani attack on Monday.
Reacting to the users who criticised her, El-rufai said she is not the First Lady of the state.
She added that her timeline is for humour, language and not serious matters like governance.
She wrote: “Did any of you see ‘First Lady’in my bio?
“My TL is for language, humour and other light-hearted issues. I don’t tweet about serious matters like governance and politics. Though I’m married to a governor I’m not a part of government. I swore no oath.”
However, some users said though she may not carry the title, she is enjoying the privileges.
“Though I’m married to a governor, I’m not a part of government. I swore no oath. But you are enjoying the First Lady privileges,” replied @yettyclassy.
Another user, @Fyneface said: “You are a public figure, the First Lady of Kaduna State enjoying the benefits of that position and you are confidently saying you’ll turn a blind eye to the mass killings in your state. When it is time for elections, you will follow and campaign.”
@MrFeral_ said: “El-Rufai has presidential ambition right?? That latest tweet from his wife is enough to dent the ambition in a civilized society. Saying you didn’t swear an oath and there is no First Lady in your bio is such a bold and uncouth way to absolve yourself of responsibilities.”
