Reps Member Greets Muslims on New Hijrah Year 1446
House of Representatives member, representing Odo-Otin/Ifelodun/Boripe Federal Constituency, Rep. Soji Abidemi Adetunji today congratulated the Muslim community on the dawn of a new Islamic (calendar) year 1446 AH, praying to God Almighty to let the year bring ease and an end to economic hardship in the country.
The Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, had declared Sunday, July 7, 2024, as the first day of Muharram, marking the beginning of the Islamic year 1446 after Hijrah.
Rep. Adetunji, however in a statement by his media office noted that the occasion is a clear reminder of what Hijrah represents in the lives of Muslims, adding that Prophet Muhammad (SAW) emigrated from Makkah to Madinah in 622 A. D. after the people of Makkah stressed his patience beyond its limit.
The statement partly reads, “I want to use this medium to congratulate all Muslim faithful in IBO Federal Constituency, Osun state and Nigeria for witnessing the begining of another Islamic Year 1446.
“A new Hijrah Year calls for thanksgiving and sober reflection. The Hijrah teaches many things to the world: a certainty that ease always comes after every hardship, a need for patience in time of hardship, and a religious obligation for every believer to always strive to be a better version of themselves.”
The lawmaker who finally expressed optimism that the new year will usher in more blessings, also urged all muslims to rededicate and recommit themselves to the worship of Allah with a view to going closer to their Creator.
