Refusal of Local Government Workers to Resume Work, a Proof of People’s Rejection of APC – Rep. Olusoji Adetunji
…condemns invasion of primary healthcare centres
A Federal lawmaker, Rep. Olusoji Abidemi Adetunji, has described the refusal of local government workers to resume work in Osun state under what he calls the “illegal leadership” of the Yes or No council chairmen as a clear indication of the people’s rejection of APC.
He made this statement during a chat with his media team while wrapping up legislative activities for the month of February.
Rep. Adetunji, who represents Odo-Otin/Ifelodun/Boripe federal constituency in Osun, criticized the opposition party in the state, stating that its reign was marked by hardship and disregard for the people’s welfare. He described the party as destructive in its approach to governance and public administration.
“I want to commend the local government workers in Osun for recognising true leadership. I remember a popular verse in the Bible that says: ‘When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when the wicked rule, the people groan and sigh.’ This is the exact case with APC, which has forcefully taken over council secretariats.
“I am certain that the council workers who have refused to resume work, despite threats from those jokers, understand that it is dangerous for individuals who lack respect for human dignity to wield power,” he added.
Meanwhile, Rep. Adetunji strongly condemned the actions of the ‘sacked’ local council executives, accusing them of unlawfully entering primary healthcare centres under the pretext of conducting working visits in some local government areas of the state. He described their actions as unauthorized and a clear act of encroachment, calling on security agencies to fulfill their responsibilities in protecting lives and property.
The lawmaker also commended Governor Ademola Adeleke, describing him as a peace-loving leader who prioritises the welfare and security of Osun residents above partisan conflicts. He noted that the opposition’s recent actions were mere attempts to disrupt the peace and stability currently enjoyed in the state.
Speaking on upcoming people-oriented programmes in his federal constituency, Rep. Olusoji Adetunji pledged to extend empowerment opportunities to a new group of constituents who have not benefited from the previous empowerment initiatives carried out within his first two years in office.
