Police Open Investigation After Ronaldo’s Son Was Filmed Riding Jet Ski Alone
Police in Portugal have opened an investigation, after Cristiano Ronaldo’s 10-year-old son was filmed riding a jet ski alone.
The video showed Ronaldo Jr. racing through the water, before moving round in circles, as he was praised by family members on the luxury vessel.
According to reports, a woman in a life jacket was seen jumping into the water towards the end of the one minute, thirty seconds video, although the boy switched on the engine before she approached it.
The disturbing footage was said to have been uploaded by Ronaldo jr’s aunt, Elma Aveiro, on her Instagram page on Monday.
According to Portuguese press, the video, also shared by his famous footballer dad, and his grandmother, Dolores Aveiro, was taken on Saturday in Paul do Mar, off the south of Madeira, where the boy is on holiday with relatives.
However, the video was deleted after receiving backlash from fans.
Maritime police chief, Guerreiro Cardoso, has confirmed that an investigation is underway, telling newspaper, Expresso, that he is aware of the incident and has now began a probe to ascertain exactly what had happened and “whether a fine had to be paid.”
Cardoso stated that under Portuguese law, a skipper’s licence is needed to use a jet ski, and only adults can hold one.
He also said fines for using a jet ski without the proper licence ranges between £268 and £2,688.
The police said the adult or adults responsible for Ronaldo Jr will be asked to pay the fine, if any wrongdoing is established.
