Nasarawa Gov Sacks SSG Over Funds Misappropriation
Abdullahi Sule, Governor of Nasarawa State, has sacked Ahmed Tijjani as the Secretary to the State Government (SSG).
This was disclosed in a statement signed by Hamza Gayam, Permanent Secretary of the Government House Administration, on Monday.
Although no official reason was mentioned in the statement, Tijjani’s dismissal may not be unconnected to his indictment by the Nasarawa State House of Assembly for allegedly misappropriating over N200 million.
The money was said to be part of the N1 billion approved for the renovation and fencing of government secondary schools in the state.
The former SSG was alleged to have committed the offence when he served as the Commissioner for Education during the administration of the immediate past governor, Tanko Al-Makura.
According to the statement, Tijjani was asked to hand over all the government properties in his possession to the Permanent Secretary (Cabinet Affairs and Special Duty) in the office of the SSG with immediate effect.
The statement read: “His Excellency, the Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, has approved the relieve of the appointment of Alhaji Aliyu Tijani Ahmed as the Secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State with effect from today Monday, the 8th of June, 2020.
“Accordingly, he is required to hand over all Government property in his possession to the Permanent Secretary Cabinet Affairs and Special Services in the office to the Secretary to the Government of the state immediately.
“His Excellency thanks the former Secretary to the Government for his service and support to the administration and wish him the best in his future endeavour.”
