Issa Diop equalised for West Ham three minutes later via a header, which Alisson struggled to keep out.
The Hammers took the lead nine minutes after the break when substitute Pablo Fornals scored a stunning goal.
Jurgen Klopp’s side were in danger of dropping Premier League points for the first time since their draw at Manchester United on October 20 after falling behind in the second half at Anfield.
But Fabianski’s woeful blunder allowed Mohamed Salah to equalise with his 19th goal of the season.
Mane completed the fightback with nine minutes left as Liverpool moved 22 points clear of second-placed Manchester City.
Victory means Liverpool equal the English league record of 18 successive wins, set by Manchester City from August to December 2017, with Jurgen Klopp’s side last dropping points in a 1-1 draw with Manchester United in October.
