La Liga: Three Real Betis Players Tested Positive To Covid 19
Three first team players at La Liga club Real Betis have tested positive for coronavirus, according to Cadena Ser.
This brings the total cases in the Spanish top flight to six as it plans for a return by June 20.
The names of the three Real Betis players is yet to be made public.
All Laliga clubs are testing their players as they attempt to implement a staged resumption of training following the pandemic.
The latest results brings the total number of positive tests in La Liga to six and may deal a blow to plans for the league to resume.
Atletico Madrid defender Renan Lodi, Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Alex Remiro and Granada’s Yangel Herrera have also tested positive for the virus.
Leganes boss Javier Aguirre had earlier revealed the league’s plans for completing the season involved a five-week period from June 20 where games will be played on Wednesdays, Thursdays and at the weekend.
Each team in Spain’s top-flight has 11 games left to play, which would see sides play twice a week in a bid to complete the current campaign by July 26.
Barcelona returned to training on Friday, with boss Quique Setien seen wearing a mask and gloves as precautionary measures.
So far, Spain has recorded 224,000 cases with more than 24,000 deaths with the virus since the first fatality on February 13.
