Kwara Deports 200 Almajirai To Katsina
The Kwara State police command said it has returned 200 almajiri children to Katsina.
In a statement on Saturday, Ajayi Okasanmi, spokesman of the police command, said a truck with licence plate number MKA 54 XL was intercepted at Bode Sadu-Okoolowo expressway, Ilorin, the state capital.
Okasanmi said upon interrogation, the driver of the truck explained that he was coming from Funtua in Katsina.
“When the driver of the truck was interrogated, he said that they were coming from Funtua in Katsina State, despite the inter-state travel ban to avoid the spread of coronavirus,” News Agency of Nigeria quoted him as saying.
“On the instruction of the Commissioner of Police, CP Kayode Egbetokun, the truck and the 200 Almajiri were escorted by fully-armed policemen to the Niger-Kwara boundary to where they will return to Katsina.”
He urged residents of boundary communities in the state to give information on movements of vehicles and people in their areas.
