Insecurity: El-Rufai Shuts Kaduna Schools
Governor Nasir El-Rufai has approved the closure of schools in Kaduna State amid rising insecurity that has disrupted the calendar.
In a statement Thursday, the Kaduna Ministry of Education said public and private schools will be shut for three weeks to allow the government to review its academic calendar.
The statement, signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr Yusuf Saleh, noted that the resumption date for which was slated for July 25, 2021, is no longer feasible.
“This is to give the state time to review the current academic calendar to ensure that normal school activities are not affected.
“However, this 3 weeks closure does not affect those writing the 2021 NECO Senior School Certificate Exams.
Consequently, the state government advised parents that the revised calendar will be released as soon as possible, saying, they will be communicated accordingly.
The new circular says the state schools are expected to resume in August.
