Fernandinho Stops Man City Players From Celebrating After Goal
Manchester City captain Fernandinho has been labelled “a great Covid officer” after attempting to stop his team-mates hugging when celebrating Ilkay Gundogan’s magnificent goal in their 4-0 win over Crystal Palace.
Gundogan scored an excellent strike from just outside the box to put City 2-0 up and he was joined by his team-mates to celebrate the goal.
However, after the Premier League wrote to clubs to remind them of the Covid protocols which include avoiding ‘handshakes, high-fives and hugs’, Fernandinho was seen reminding the players to keep their distance before applauding Gundogan.
Reacting on social media, one City fan said: “That’s just wonderful (And Fernandinho makes a great Covid officer )”
“Fernandinho being a great covid Marshall there”, another added.
“Identify far too much with @fernandinho trying to keep everyone from celebrating together under Covid restrictions”, quipped a third.
“my captain ferna trying to reduce covid”
John Stones netted a brace either side of Gundogan’s goal, before Raheem Sterling scored an excellent free-kick to cap off a quality display by City who now sit second in the Premier League table.
