Fedpoly Offa Ready To Host Best NIPOGA In History

 

The Federal Polytechnic Offa Kwara State is set to host 22nd edition of Nigeria Polytechnic Games (NIPOGA) scheduled for April 5, 2025.

The Rector of the Polytechnic, Engr. Dr. Kadiri Kamoru Oluwatoyin FNSE while addressing journalists during press conference said the event will spread across 14 days of sporting action, cultural exchange and economic activities. He noted that the Polytechnic anticipate to welcome athletes from about 50 Polytechnics across Nigeria to compete in various events including: Athletics, Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Tennis, Chess, Scrabble, Handball, Badminton, Judo, and Taekwondo.

The event, according to the Rector, will feature a special exhibition of automobiles and bicycle innovations named Okin-EVI, an electric car, electric bike and bicycle, a large full-color digital billboard for advertising and communication, a 3D printer among others.

While soliciting support from the Government, community and relevant stakeholders, he said the institution is fully prepared to host the nation with a 90% completed ultramodern multipurpose sports complex.

Dr. Kadiri reaffirmed that the 22nd edition of NIPOGA will go beyond medals to foster friendship, inclusiveness and social cohesion among students across the country.

“This tournament will serve as a springboard for talent identification and international sports participation. If we get it right at this level, we will be securing the future of Nigerian sports,” he said.

Speaking on security, the Rector noted that the institution has completed moves to partner with the Kwara State Police Command, Offa Division, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Man O’ War, and local security agencies including installation of CCTV cameras, floodlights to guarantee the safety of participants.

“A makeshift police post will be set up in front of the main campus to ensure the safety of athletes, officials, and guests. CCTV cameras and floodlights have been strategically installed around the sports complex and critical areas of the campus to enhance security surveillance and visibility,” he added.

He therefore appreciated the Council of Heads of Polytechnics and Colleges of Technology in Nigeria (COHEADS), NIPOGA Executives, Coaches and Sports Directors, Central Accreditation Committee for the guidance and support. He equally commended the Local Organising Committee led by the Deputy Rector Administration, Dr. Salmon Ishiaq Rasheed for working tirelessly to make the tournament a remarkable one in history.
