Ex Super Eagles’ Star Mikel Obi Gets New Appointment From Plateau Governor
Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang has approved the appointment of former Super Eagles captain and Chelsea FC legend, John Mikel Obi as his Honorary Adviser on Sports.
The footballing legend’s appointment was contained in a statement issued by Governor Mutfwang’s Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere.
Mikel Obi was born in Jos, the capital of Plateau State before establishing himself on the global stage with his football talents.
The former Premier League star started his club career at local club, Plateau United, before moving to Norwegian outfit, Lyn Oslo at 17 in 2004, where he caught the eyes of Chelsea FC and Manchester United and decided to settle for the former.
Mikel had an illustrious career, winning quite a lot of titles with Chelsea, including continental titles, the UEFA Champions League and Europa League.
The former midfielder represented Nigeria for 14 years, winning the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations before calling time on his football career in 2022.
