#EndSARS: Stop Freezing Accounts Of Activists – Falana Tells CBN
Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN) has warned the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, against freezing the account of activists in the country.
The apex bank recently froze the account of Yoruba activist Sunday Igboho after he promised to rid South-West of Fulani herdsmen.
The bank had also frozen the account of some EndSARS protesters, though a court in Abuja has ordered the account to be unfrozen.
Warning the CBN, Falana said, ”Let the CBN stop freezing the Bank Accounts of activists because it constitutes a gross infringement of the fundamental right to fair hearing and property. If the CBN does not desist from the illegal practice our courts should turn down frivolous applications for freezing the bank accounts of activists and other citizens.”
