COVID-19 Patient Who Escaped From Imo Arrested At Ondo Market
A female COVID-19 patient, who escaped treatment in Imo State, has reportedly been arrested in Ondo.
The patient was apprehended over the weekend at the popular Oja-Oba market in Akure, while selling second-hand clothes popularly known as ‘Okrika’.
It was gathered that the patient was diagnosed with the deadly disease in Imo, before travelling to Ondo without submitting herself for treatment.
According to The Independent, Wahab Adegbenro, commissioner for health, in Ondo, said the two states mounted surveillance for the patient upon discovering that she had escaped.
Adegbenro said while the patient is being treated at the state Infectious Disease Hospital in Igbatoro road, Akure, contact tracing of her family members, friends, and neighbours has begun.
He also urged those who transacted business with the woman to report for testing.
