Ali Modu Sheriff Eyeing APC National Chairmanship Seat – Report
Ali Modu-Sheriff, former governor of Borno State, is reportedly interested in becoming the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Modu-Sheriff, a former caretaker committee Chairman of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, defected to the ruling APC on April 26, 2018.
Reports by Daily Nigerian said he on Thursday visited the party’s national secretariat in Abuja to have a meeting with Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State, who is the National Chairman, Caretaker Committee.
Both of them were said to have gone to a secret venue to hold a meeting.
Modu-Sheriff joins Kashim Shettima, also a former Borno State governor, and Buba Marwa, former military governor of Lagos State, in the race for the seat.
The party’s National Working Committee had been dissolved by President Muhammadu Buhari after a crisis threatened to rip the party apart.
