I Only Told My Story, I Didn’t Lie – Cynthia Morgan

Cynthia Morgan, an afro reggae singer, has insisted that she did not lie to Nigerians but only told her story from her own angle.
Morgan stated this in a letter entitled: “Letter from Cynthia Morgan”, which was published on her Instagram page on Wednesday.
The singer has been in the news in the last few days after she alleged in an interview on Instagram live that she was ripped off her entitlements and her stage name upon signing a music agreement/contract with Northside Entertainment, owned by Jude Okoye, the elder brother of the defunct P-Square twins.
But Okoye in an interview with entertainer Tunde Ednut the following day denied the allegations levelled against him, saying that Morgan – who now goes by the stage name Madrina – was given the free hand to express and decide her creative content.
After promising, Okoye through a third party on Tuesday published online the said contract agreement between Morgan and his company.
The release of the contract resulted in a backlash for Morgan from Nigerians, who felt the singer purportedly deceived them to seek their empathy.
But in her letter on Tuesday, the “German Juice” crooner apologised to Okoye and Joy Tongo, her erstwhile manager, for her past actions.
According to her, she erred while making decisions as she was younger and still new in the music industry as at the time of signing the contract in 2013.
She acknowledged that she made mistakes, and also insisted that other parties involved also had a fair share of the blame.
She also thanked her fellow singer, Davido, all corporate organisations and Nigerians on social media for their words of encouragement since she narrated her story on challenges she faced.
She said she is excited at the “new opportunity” she has to light up the music scene, and pleaded with fans to remain patient as she builds up her new body of work.
