Naira is our national identity, stop spraying it – CBN warns ‘owambe’ goers
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has warned the general to desist from spraying, hawking, mutilating or transacting with counterfeit Naira currencies.
The apex bank assured Nigerians that the organisation will strive to sustain its efforts in ensuring enough naira currency is in circulation to aid seamless transactions.
This was disclosed in Lokoja, Kogi State capital, on Thursday, August 3, by the Director, Corporate Communications Department of the CBN, Dr Isa AbdulMumin, during the apex bank’s Fair holding in Kogi.
Dr AbdulMumin urged members of the public to see Naira as the country’s symbol of national identity, stressing that the onus lies on them to respect and keep it clean at every point in time.
He promised that: “The CBN will sustain its efforts towards ensuring availability of Currency. We, however, urge you to see Naira as our critical symbol of National identity. Respect and keep it clean. Do not spray, hawk, mutilate or counterfeit the Naira.
“Let me assure you that the CBN, will continue to ensure that it delivers on its core mandate of ensuring monetary and price stability.
