General Sani Abacha’s son dies in his sleep

Abdullahi Abacha, a son of the late Nigerian military dictator General Sani Abacha, has passed away.

Abdullahi, who was 36, was one of the nine children Abacha left behind. He is said to have died in his sleep on Saturday morning.

His older sister Gumsu, formerly the wife of Cameroonian billionaire Mohamadou Bayero Fadil and currently the second wife of Yobe State governor Mai Mala Buni, confirmed his death.

“I lost my younger brother, Abdullahi Sani Abacha. He died in his sleep. May Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him jaanatul firdous. Ameen. Please include him in your prayers”, she wrote on her social media page.

Abdullahi was said to be in good health the night before but died at his family’s home on Nelson Mandela Street in Abuja.

In the meantime, funeral prayers for Abdullahi will be held at the National Mosque in Abuja on Saturday at 4 p.m.
