Valencia, Lazio Want Arsenal’s Lucas Torreira On Loan
Arsenal’s Lucas Torreira is reportedly being eyed up by Valencia and Lazio as there are talks of the midfielder potentially having his Atletico Madrid loan spell cut short.
The 24-year-old has struggled for minutes since linking up with Diego Simeone’s side, featuring in just seven LaLiga matches.
It was claimed last month that Torreira could be recalled by the Gunners prematurely having failed to make an impact at the Wanda Metropolitano.
And it was stated earlier in January that Torino were set to reignite their interest, having missed out on his signature last summer.
Torreira has also been linked with Serie A outfit Fiorentina – another club that were interested in signing him before he joined Atletico.
According to AS, both clubs are monitoring Torreira’s situation in Spain, along with fellow Italian side Lazio.
However, they claim they are facing stiff competition from Valencia, who have made securing his signature their priority before the window slams shut.
AS claim that Valencia have already made contact with Gunners technical director Edu about a possible loan move for the ex-Sampdoria star.
The news outlet adds that while Torreira would like to remain at Atletico until the end of the campaign, he cannot ignore interest from elsewhere.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta revealed earlier this month that he has spoken to Torreira about his situation at Atletico.
He said: “I have had some conversations with Lucas.
“He started the loan period really well, now he’s lacking game-time. It can happen, the team is doing exceptionally well.
“They are first in the Spanish La Liga so when a team is winning it can be difficult to get in the line-up.
“But it’s a long season, I know Lucas’ character, he’s going to try to keep going and pushing. Let’s see what happens with him.”
